Vendors provide their own canopies, umbrellas and tables. For insurance purposes, all vendors who wish to erect canopies or umbrellas during the normal period of market operations, including the set up and break down period, are required to have their canopies and umbrellas sufficiently and safely anchored to the ground from the time their canopy is put up to the time it is taken down. Any vendor who fails to properly anchor his or her canopy will be allowed to sell at the market that day, only if he or she chooses sell without said canopy.  Please see Canopy Safety guidelines below.

Parking in front of the market is reserved for customers. Vendors must park in area designated by market management.

A bell will be rung to indicate the opening and closing of the market.  The market closes at 4:00pm.  Please allow 10-15 minutes for all shoppers to clear the market area before bringing vehicles inside the gates.  You may however begin breaking down your booth at 4:00pm. Vendors should not leave prior to the closing bell. If you run out of product please notify the market management and arrange to leave with minimum disruption.

MARKET SET-UP AND TAKE-DOWN:

All vendors and workers are counted upon to participate in the Saturday Open-Air Market operations. Please sign up at the information booth for a regular job assignment to be done before or after the market. This cooperation will help to ensure success for everyone.

Canopy Safety Requirements

According to the Washington State Farmers Market Manual, wind-blown canopies and umbrellas are the number one cause of insurance claims for farmers markets, but all, or nearly all, of these claims are preventable. Wind is unpredictable and can come without warning, toppling improperly secured canopies and umbrellas. Most wind-blown canopy insurance claims happen at the end of the market day, when the wind picks up and blows over a canopy left improperly secured in the process of packing up a display. As other displays come down, windbreaks are removed. The danger is exacerbated because vendors often detach their canopy weights from their canopies, but leave the canopy standing.

All canopies, umbrellas, and other forms of stall cover must be sufficiently and safely secured to the ground, from the moment the canopy is erected at the start of the market day until the moment immediately before it is taken down at the end of the market day. "Sufficiently" means at least 24 pounds per leg for canopies, and at least 50 pounds for umbrellas. "Safely" means that the method used to secure the canopy does not create its own safety hazards:

* Canopy weights should not cause a tripping hazard

* Canopy weights should be tethered with lines that are clearly visible

* Canopy weights should have soft edges to avoid causing scrapes and cuts

* Canopy weights should be secured to the bottom of the legs, with ropes, straps or cords stretching up to the inside corner of the canopy to lower the center of gravity

* Weights should be securely attached to the canopy.
